One in every seven jobs in Germany related to the automotive industry, which has an annual turnover of €254 billion. Germany is the third biggest automotive producing nation after the US and Japan.

The main focus of this sector in Germany is the private-car market which totals more than 90% of production.

 

 

To be placed as an innovative leader in this industry, key success factors include long term vision, intelligent business models as well as customer centric development and marketing processes. Currently, electronics and IT total approximately one third in passenger car value creation.

This share is predicted to rise to 40% by 2015. Because of the ever increasing importance of ITC for future means of transportation, it is becoming even more important to realize intelligent concepts for the use of ITC in automobiles. The continuously decreasing lifecycles in IT and Telecommunications will influence the product life cycles and modularity of passenger cars. In the future, driver assistance systems, infotainment and context sensitive navigation will play a greater role that today. Additionally, the increasing importance of environmental sustainability issues will play a role in shaping the future model of the sector.
